Active listening and music

I went to the flute festival on Saturday and learned all about Dalcroze Eurhythmics. When I first heard that I said, “What?” Dalcroze education is an experiential way of knowing music through the body. We talked about active listening. We used eye contact, tennis balls, chopsticks, and several other methods to learn new concepts. Instead of just having the audience or students listen to you it is important to involve them in active listening. When we actively listen we remember, learn, and enjoy music more.
